Captain, a Dream
Contents of a Sunday afternoon nap:
I see a captain on a spaceship akin to something from Star Trek. Posh, well lit, techie. He's sitting in a high tech chair asleep, yet his conscience (which I can see, because I'm dreaming) is sitting around a touch-screen table computer with his AI co-pilot who is a woman. They are doing captain-y things like looking at logs, reports and setting engine levels. They give each other glimmery eyes. They're in love (which I'm sure helps during intersystem space travel).
Instantly three other people appear, one man and two women. They're wearing different uniforms and look upset. They've come to return the captains' co-pilot to Earth, claiming that the captain fraudulently took her while at the academy. They both look heartbroken and teary eyed. Now, all this is taking place in the virtual reality.
Then Sofie woke me up.
It made me think about the prospects of potential love in the next few centuries. How will it evolve with technology? Will people have true and meaningful relationships with artificial intelligence? And how painful if that data is destroyed and they're loved one are gone. Will our Heavenly Father bless the faithful in a similar way to Gepetto and Pinocchio?
